Equine Massage

Equine Sports Therapy is the therapeutic application of hands on massage techniques, plus the use of therapeutic equipment, for the purpose of increasing circulation, relaxing muscle spasms, relieving tension, enhancing muscle tone, preventing pain and increasing performance...
Equine massage is beneficial for any horse of any discipline and level of training as it actively improves performance, mood and overall wellbeing. Focusing on the deep tissue, equine massage benefits the horse both before and after being worked, particularly at a competitive level. It enhances relaxation by releasing tense muscles as well as aiding in muscle recovery. More specifically, it targets muscle development, perishing of the muscle and elasticity, working to maintain strength and subsequently improve the horse’s performance. Equine massage is also known to enhance circulation and support lymphatic drainage.

Red Light Therapy

Red light used in therapy is used mainly at one wavelength of light (660nm) emitted from super-luminous light emitting diodes that penetrate the skin without causing pain or damage, to induce certain physiological responses in the body.
Red light therapy is a natural therapy promoting the body's own immune responses, its own method of controlling pain and its own healing abilities. Red light therapy uses the energy of light to produce a therapeutic effect.
Red light therapy (or photonic therapy) is the use of red light on muscular tissues and areas of increased electrical activity, known as acupoints, in order to effect areas of the body in a certain way. Red light therapy is painless and safe and can be used alone or in conjunction with other therapies.

What are the benefits of Red Light Therapy?

  • Increased vascularity or circulation by the formation of new capillaries.
  • Significant increases in wound healing with less formation of scar tissue.
  • Reduction in edema.
  • Pain relief
  • Relaxation of muscles
  • Stimulation of collagen production
  • Relief of minor aches and pains
  • Increases RNA and DNA synthesis
  • Stimulation of trigger and acupuncture points

Blue Light Therapy

Blue light is used on skin conditions. By using the Blue AAH Light, you are using your body’s natural cellular function to help fight bacteria and inflammation instead of relying on harsh chemicals and other invasive treatment options. The specific wavelengths emitted by the AAH light are absorbed by acne-causing bacteria, such as P. acnes, in the pores. This bacterium then produces a molecule that occurs naturally within the body called a porphyrin, which in turn kills the bacteria. The wavelengths used in this process are between 405 and 420 nanometres, which is different than the wavelengths used in ultraviolet light.

Equissage

The Equissage uses Cycloid Vibration Therapy (CVT) to target poor circulation, tense muscles and to increase joint mobility. CVT is a high-performance system that is well known not only in the horse world but also in the medical industry. There are no negative side effects from CVT, in actual fact it aids in a faster recovery.
The Equissage system consists of two main components; the back pad and hand-held units.
The back pad will give the entire horse a deep tissue Cycloidal Massage which will enhance their circulatory system, promote muscle relaxation and lymphatic drainage.
The hand-held units also use CVT technology but can be used to treat specific problem areas such as neck stiffness and flexibility, lumbar soreness etc. The hand-held unit can also be used in a unique leg and tendon boot to assist in treating leg and hoof problems, for example; pulled ligaments and tendons, inflammation due to injury, circulatory issues, arthritis, shin soreness, capped hocks, windfalls and laminitis.
Both the back pad and hand-held units can be used in conjunction with one another to provide an overall deep tissue Cycloidal Massage that promotes the entire wellbeing of your horse, assisting them to reach peak performance.
